December 10 - 15, 2012

Monday, December 10 – Greg Smalley (In Studio) – Faith and Relationships – How can our relationship with Christ also strengthen our marriages and friendships? Today Susie welcomes Dr. Greg Smalley, executive director of Marriage and Family Formation for Focus on the Family, to the studio. They explore how faith in a risen and ruling Jesus affects our relationships with each other, inside and outside the Church. Susie and Dr. Smalley will also make a special announcement that you won’t want to miss!

Wednesday, December 12 – Gap Campaign – Today we welcome your calls as we praise God for using Faith Radio to lead people to Christ and deepen their faith. We ask for your continued prayers and financial partnership on behalf of the ministry!

Thursday, December 13 – Josh Patterson – Creature of the Word – When the good news is declared and applied to God's people, the church understands, embraces, and lives out the reality of Christ's birth, life, death, and resurrection in more than the doctrinal statement. Today Susie talks with Josh Patterson, co-author of the book Creature of the Word: The Jesus-Centered Church. They explore the truth that the gospel impacts all the church IS, and all the church DOES. The gospel is more than the ABCs of Christianity – it’s the whole of Christian life.

Friday, December 14 – Ed Underwood – When God Breaks Your Heart – There is no greater challenge to faith than personal suffering. For Pastor Ed Underwood, this experience came in the form of chronic leukemia. Ed prayed for and believed in God's healing, but as the days passed and his pain became unbearable, he wrestled with why an all-powerful God was not helping him. Today Susie talks with Ed about his book, When God Breaks Your Heart. They look at the story of Lazarus and his sisters Mary and Martha as we find comfort during difficulty, are inspired to ask for the impossible, and discover a God Whose heart breaks with yours.

Saturday, December 15 – John Ortberg – Who Is This Man He is history's most familiar figure. His impact on the world is immense and non-accidental. From the Dark Ages to Post-Modernity he is the man who won't go away. He did not brashly defend his movement in the spirit of a rising political or military leader. He did not lay out a case that history would judge superior in all future books. He made history by starting in a humble place, in a spirit of love and acceptance, and allowing each person space to respond. Today Susie welcomes well-known pastor and author John Ortberg to the show to talk about his book, Who Is This Man? We explore how Jesus' influence has swept over history, art, science, government, medicine, and education and how his vision for us to lead lives of dignity, compassion, forgiveness, and hope continues to haunt and challenge humanity today.
