March 25 - 30, 2013

Monday, March 25 – Naghmeh Abedini – Faith in the Face of Trial – An American pastor traveled to Iran to work on an orphanage… Today Saeed Abedini sits in the most notorious prison in the country, imprisoned and sentenced under false charges, because he is a Christian. On the next Live the Promise, Pastor Saeed’s wife, Naghmeh joins Susie to share Saeed’s story. Join us to support pastor Saeed with your prayers and phone calls.

Tuesday, March 26 – Carol Kent – When I Lay My Isaac Down – This Holy Week, we’re focusing on the theme of suffering and sacrifice. Today Susie welcomes back author and speaker Carol Kent. Carol will share her own journey of suffering, sacrifice, and ultimate hope, as her only son was sentenced to life in prison for committing murder. We’ll look at how God is using one family’s pain for His purposes. Carol’s book is When I Lay My Isaac Down.

Wednesday, March 27 – Jud Wilhite – Pursued God’s love is deeper and more freeing than we can imagine. On the next Live the Promise Susie talks with pastor Jud Wilhite. He’s written a new book about the pursuing love of God, and he’ll share his own story of redemption and hope. We’ll also look at the biblical story of Hosea and Gomer to illustrate the Father’s amazing, unconditional pursuit of His people.

Thursday, March 28 – Per Nilsen (In Studio) – Reconciliation – Jesus’ death on the cross reconciled us to God, but it also reconciled us to each other. What does it mean that Jesus broke down the dividing wall of hostility? Today Pastor Per Nilsen returns to the studio to look at the process of reconciliation within the body of Christ, and how healing can come when we realize that our sins died with Jesus.

Friday, March 29 – Susie – Good Friday Meditation – Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ On the Good Friday edition of Live the Promise. We’re going to look at the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus, and His deep love for a people He died to save. We’ll also hear some powerful Easter hymns and take time to worship and reflect.

Saturday, March 30 – James Merritt – Still Standing – There are times in life when it feels like everyone, and everything, is against you. Your efforts to live an obedient and fruitful life blow up in your face. How can we stand on God’s promises during such trials? On weekend edition of Live the Promise we’ll hear Susie’s discussion with Pastor James Merritt. James knows firsthand how difficult it can be to stand up when life knocks you down, but we’ll talk about how to trust Christ and get back on our feet

Today Susie talks with musician Warren Barfield. He shares his faith journey, his heart for the lost around the world, and how God called him into the music industry. We’ll also get to hear some of his newest songs!

Tuesday, March 19 – Stephen Mansfield – The Art of Confrontation –Speaking the truth in love is a lost art form. Jesus spoke the truth with compassion and grit, but Christians today have trouble knowing how to balance both. Today Susie welcomes back best-selling author Stephen Mansfield. We’ll talk about how and when to lovingly confront.

Wednesday, March 20 – Erin Smalley – Grown-Up Girlfriends What can we learn about the dynamics of women friendships? On the next Live the Promise, Susie talks with author Erin Smalley, the wife of Dr. Greg Smalley. We’re going to look at how to cultivate honesty and love and deep connection in the friendships of women. Erin’s book is Grown-Up Girlfriends.

Thursday, March 21 – Dee Brestin (Recorded) – Idol Lies – What is your god? Whom or what do you worship? In our fallen state, we forsake God and run to an idol for peace or purpose, an idol that was never designed to give us joy. Today Susie welcomes back Bible teacher Dee Brestin to discuss her new book, Idol Lies. Together we explore the appeal of our idols, uncover their lies, and learn how to run back to Christ for our identity.

Friday, March 22 – Gary Barkalow (Recorded) – It’s Your Call – Your personality and gifting are no accident. God wires each person with specific strengths to fulfill His purpose in life, and that’s a glorious thing. On the next Live the Promise Susie welcomes back Gary Barkalow, founder of The Noble Heart ministry. Gary’s written a book titled It’s Your Call, and they’ll talk more about what it means to use our gifts and ‘own’ our calling.

Saturday, March 23 – Nick Vujicic – Unstoppable  – Despite being born without arms or legs, Nick Vujicic’s (VOY-a-chich) challenges have not kept him from enjoying great adventures, a fulfilling and meaningful career, and loving relationships. Nick has overcome trials and hardships by focusing on the promises that he was created for a unique and specific purpose, that his life has value and is a gift to others, and that no matter the despair and hard times in life, God is always present. Today Susie and Nick unpack his new book about perseverance in action, titled Unstoppable.

Wednesday, March 13 – Bryan Olesen – Ending Human Trafficking The love of God is a liberating love, and He calls us to set others free as well. Today we talk with Bryan Olesen, lead singer of the band VOTA. He’s involved in a global campaign to end human trafficking, and we’ll talk about how each of us can get involved in the fight against modern-day slavery.

Thursday, March 14 – Jim Daly/Greg Smalley (Recorded) – Re-Focus – What does it mean to live as salt and light in the world? Today Susie talks with Jim Daly, president of Focus on the Family. We’ll discuss how faith in Christ shapes every aspect of our life and culture, including marriage, finances, and politics. Then we hear from Focus on the Family’s Dr. Greg Smalley about the best ways to build and sustain a marriage.
