Today Susie welcomes back Jennifer Kennedy Dean to talk about her new book, Praying the Promises of God. They’re going to explore the promises in Scripture and what it looks like when we pray God’s Word back to Him.

Tuesday, February 5 – Sara Groves (In Studio) – The Gospel in Art – How can we use music and art to express the gospel? Today Susie talks with her good friend, singer-songwriter Sara Groves. Sara has a heart for mentoring Christian artists, and she’s going to share her music and faith. It’s going to be a great discussion about creativity and kingdom purposes!

But how can we lean on Him when it seems like He’s silent in the midst of our suffering? Today Susie talks with Pastor Ed Underwood. Ed shares his diagnosis of chronic leukemia, his honest journey of faith and doubt, and how he learned to rely on the God Who has chosen, at least for now, not to heal him. Wednesday, January 30 – Lee Grady –Women of the Kingdom Many women today live quiet, beaten-down lives… but were designed and wired to live as powerful instruments of God. Today Susie talks with author and award-winning journalist Lee Grady about his new book, Fearless Daughters of the Bible. They look at 22 women in Scripture who lived a fearless walk with the living God and were raised up for kingdom purposes.

They talk about what it means to choose a theme word, for your life, or for the year, and how that affects our walk with God.

Gary’s written a book titled It’s Your Call, and they’ll talk more about what it means to use our gifts and ‘own’ our calling.

Wednesday, January 23 – Paul Coughlin –The Protectors We are commanded to speak up for the least of these, whether in our church or in our school. What can we do to prepare our children, and ourselves, to stand up for those who are being bullied? Today Susie talks with Paul Coughlin of The Protectors. Paul has a heart for students who are targeted by their peers and he shares some ways to stop bullying, or prevent it altogether.

Thursday, January 24 – James Merritt – Still Standing – There are times in life when it feels like everyone, and everything, is against you. Your efforts to live an obedient and fruitful life blow up in your face. How can we stand on God’s promises during such trials? Today Susie welcomes Pastor James Merritt to the program to talk about his book, Still Standing. James knows firsthand how difficult it can be to stand up when life knocks you down, but we’ll talk about how to trust Christ and get back on your feet.

Friday, January 25 – Will Davis Jr. – Pray Big – Prayer is a conversation, but it’s also one of the most powerful tools in our walk with Christ. Today Susie’s guest is author Will Davis Jr. They talk about his book, Pray Big. Our heavenly Father is all-powerful, and He wants us to come to Him with specific prayers and needs. Susie welcomes singer Nichole Nordeman to the show to talk about her new book, Love Story. On the next Live the Promise Susie is unpacking another message from her new book, Your Beautiful Purpose. We’ll talk about how to lay down our will and learn to live in God’s will. Trusting God is a choice and a process, and she’ll share a few important ways we can lean into God’s promises for our lives.

Tuesday, January 15 – Lisa Anderson – Boundless – In the eyes of the world, sex is a god. But the Lord sees sex as a gift. How can we show young people in the Church how to save and preserve their hearts and bodies until marriage? What tools can we give them? On the next Live the Promise Susie welcomes back Lisa Anderson, program director for Boundless at Focus on the Family. We’ll talk more about how to equip young people to walk in purity and grow in faith.

Wednesday, January 16 – Carol Lund and Laurel Bunker (In Studio) –The Behind-the-Scenes Battle When God calls us to do something, there’s tremendous opposition from the enemy. You might be tempted to give up or become angry, but if you keep in step with God He will bring fruit from the battle. Today on Live the Promise Susie welcomes Carol Lund of Bridging the Gap and Laurel Bunker of Bethel University to the studio. Carol and Laurel have seen and experienced the fight in the midst of the calling, and they give encouragement for us to stay faithful and finish strong.

Thursday, January 17 – Jim Cymbala (Recorded) – Spirit Rising – The Holy Spirit is God’s agent on earth, but He is the least understood, least preached about, and least discussed member of the Trinity. On the next Live the Promise Susie talks with pastor Jim Cymbala. Jim’s written a book called Spirit Rising, and he invites us to experience God in a fresh and vital way. If we want power, confidence, joy, peace, and more love in our lives, then we need a better understanding of Who the Holy Spirit is.

Friday, January 18 – Carol Barnier (Recorded) – Engaging Today’s Prodigal – Many families today experience the profound guilt and pain of seeing a child walk away from their faith and values. Today Susie’s guest is author Carol Barnier. She walked away from her family’s faith to become an active atheist, debated Christians, and looked at many worldviews before she found the truth in a relationship with Jesus. We’ll talk about how the church can reach out to prodigals and provide a bridge back home when they are ready. Carol’s book is Engaging Today’s Prodigal.

Saturday, January 19 – Bill and Pam Farrel – Men Are Like Waffles, Women Are Like Spaghetti – Men and women are wired differently. How can we learn to laugh at the differences instead of fight over them? On the next Live the Promise Susie talks with her good friends, Bill and Pam Farrel. We’ll talk about how to enjoy our differences and learn the best ways to get along in marriage! Their book is titled Men Are Like Waffles, Women Are Like Spaghetti.

Tuesday, January 8 – Warren Barfield – Faith and Music – The song ‘Love Is Not a Fight’ from the movie Fireproof has become an anthem for perseverance, and we get to meet the artist who performed it. Today Susie talks with musician Warren Barfield. He shares his faith journey, his heart for the lost around the world, and how God called him into the music industry. We’ll also get to hear some of his newest songs!

Wednesday, January 9 – Dr. Juli Slattery and Linda Dillow –Authentic Intimacy What does it look like to have a deep and lasting connection in marriage? How can husbands and wives build and enjoy healthy sexuality? Susie welcomes back Dr. Juli Slattery and author Linda Dillow to talk about their new ministry, Authentic Intimacy. They explore the barriers to intimacy within marriage and talk about God’s unique design for sex.

Thursday, January 10 – Dave Carder – Close Calls – Fidelity in marriage is quickly becoming an outdated notion. How can we learn from the mistakes of others? On today’s Live the Promise Susie welcomes pastor and counselor Dave Carder to talk about his book, Close Calls. He’s seen up close the damage that comes to a marriage when a spouse is unfaithful, and he shares the important ways we can cultivate faithfulness.

Saturday, January 12 – Aaron Shust – Worship – Music is one of the key ways God ministers to us, and today we’ll explore that truth. Susie welcomes musician Aaron Shust to the program. We’ll talk about his faith, his newest project titled This Is What We Believe, and how God has sustained his family through a difficult season.
