Wait On God, Then Go Forward in Faith!

Now on to my topic...

Has God put a promise in your heart? Is He leading you some place new and out of your realm of comfort and control? I pray you'll follow Him there. But first, wait on Him. Get your marching orders from Him. Seek wise counsel and confirmation from His Word. Wait to hear the word of the Lord, and then, go on and take the new land.

But here's something important you and I must remember: Every time God offers to give us something, the enemy threatens to take it from us. When God plants seeds in the soil of our hearts, it's the enemy's desire to snatch them up again. When God leads us to lay hold of a promised land, it's the enemy's desire to bully us and oppose us so we'll turn around, thinking we heard God all wrong.

So what's a person to do?

We remember the Word of the Lord! 

God loves us and knows how to communicate with us in a way we'll understand. So if during the waiting season, you know you've heard from God  because He spoke something deep into your heart and confirmed it in His Word, then hang on to it with bulldog faith. Because right on the heels of the Lord will be that enemy to throw shadows of doubt over your day. He's hoping to find an opening of unbelief by asking you what he asked Eve, "Did God really say...Are you sure of that?" 

I asked God how I was supposed to win this predictable yet daunting battle with the enemy, every time I stepped out to do something new and His answer blessed me so. He said, "Remember in the darkness what I told you in the light. Hang on to my Word with all your might. Submit your plans to me. Resist the enemy's taunts; don't take his bait; eventually he will have to flee from you."

I pray this encourages you as well. 

It's always wise to wait first on God. Wait on Him. Give Him time and room to speak into your life. His plans for you are far greater that your plans for your own life. Wait on Him, you'll hear Him eventually. Then, you'll have all you need to face down your giants of fear and march through enemy territory, that you might take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of you.

Remember the words He has spoken to you!

Susie, I sit here with tears...God obviously brought me to this post tonight when I needed this exact reminder. Yes, God is a giving God, but feeling satan's efforts as well - he is out to steal, kill and destroy. Sometimes he uses my thoughts as his biggest weapon...thanks for the reminder to focus, hold on, wait and go forward. Thank you and God bless.

Okay did you get inside my head?! Sometimes your posts are just uncanny! I'll ask God for clarification or encouragement in a certain area and your post will speak right to that request. I've been praying for two things, the first thing for three years the second for one year. Both I believe are in line with God's word and the second I felt like he gave me a promise for, but I have yet to see either come to pass. I was telling a friend today sometimes you just get tired of praying and you wonder if you heard God incorrectly. Thanks for the encouraging reminder!

Susie, thank you so much for allowing God to speak through you tonight. My husband and I know the Lord had called us to a big task. He has been preparing us fir a few years. Then two months ago things started to happen and happen quickly fir about six weeks. We received much confirmation and encouragement during that time. Then everything stopped. The next step is just not happening. We just had this discussion last night that we know we are called, so why does everything seem to be so quiet and we can see no way around the next hurdle except for God solving the problem. We are holding and trusting and waiting to see what He will do to accomplish His work! Thank you so much for your words of encouragement.

Thank you for the constant reminder to wait on God and listen to His word. It is so difficult for me to "see" God in my current situation let alone hear and know that it is He that is speaking. Taking the time daily with God is so hard to set aside...especially since I find it hard to hear Him when I do.Blessing to you!

Hi Susie - Thank you so much for the encouragement. It is a perfect "Monday" message for me. Just this weekend I was wrestling with anxiety over the big assignment I believe God has put in front of me. It is a "walking on water" type of assignment and just yesterday I sunk. But I woke up today, feeling God's grace and mercy all around me, with Him speaking to me that I am His ambassador. Today, I am praying and fasting for the Lord's encouragement...when I came across your blog. (Recommended to me by a dear friend at BTG.) Through a video, I have heard you speak on the "Valley of Preparation" and how not to despise that. 2010 has very much been that year...and now on the thresh hold of Light, I am anxious. Thank you for your call to The Word, and claiming what is ours in Christ. I have been clinging to Hebrews 10:35-36 "So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised." Blessings to you!

Thank you for that. Since starting your book "Embracing Your Freedom" I've had some battles with the enemy and it's not been fun!

I'm so grateful that God led you to a word of encouragement when you most needed it. The longer I walk with Christ and contend for the things He has promised me, the more I understand that we are in a battle and we need to live and worship and serve and give, all with a battle-ready stance, ready to stand strong against the enemy of our souls. Bless your heart! I have been there, for sure! The preparation time is mixed with 'stop' and 'go' moments; with highs and lows' with rest, now run, with speak, now be silent moments. I've learned how intimately God wants us to walk with Him; so much so that we respond to the slightest whisper of His voice.
