Small Miracles

God is in the business of miracles, no? Amidst the intense needs and crises of our day, Jesus still loves to make Himself known in a very personal way. My youngest son Jordan is a football player, he is also one who loves Jesus. Recently during his dreaded (but not really) two-a-day football practices he injured his knee. He walked in the door with an obvious limp. My husband wanted Jordan to see the trainer. Jordan looked up with absolute sincerity and said, “Dad, I really don’t want to go to the trainer with this. As it is, I am missing a day and a half of practice to attend my youth retreat. I don’t want to be seen as a weak link.” That night after Jordan went to bed I went into his room, knelt down, and put my hand on his knee. I asked God to give me faith on behalf of my son. The next morning when Jordan was getting ready to head out the door, we had him sit between us and my husband and I prayed for him. I prayed Psalm 103:1-5 and said, “Lord, one of the benefits of belonging to You is that we get to be healed, forgiven, and restored. We ask You, please take away this pain and restore this knee. Amen.” Jordan stood up and the pain was gone! He went to practice and ran hard with no issue whatsoever. God made Jordan fast and my heart jumps when he gets to run. I’ve heard many people say that it is selfish to ask for small things when so many big things are happening in the world today. I know that many are waiting for healing for much more serious matters than a swollen knee. I’ve been waiting a long time for my own healing. Still, God says to bring all of our requests before Him. He says to cast all of our anxieties on Him. What’s even more wonderful is that He says we can approach Him with freedom and confidence! I don’t know about you but I want it all. I want God to invade every nook and cranny of my life. I want my sons to know that God is busy and active in the world and in their lives. God is larger than life and powerful enough to turn the world upside down. And He is personal enough to move in ways that mean nothing to the world, but everything to me. Oh, how I love Him.

Hi Susie! I was at Covenant Pines this past weekend along with 10 other "Church Ladies" from Bloomington Covenant Church. We were all so impressed and touched by what you had to say! Between you and the praise band, the chapel services were out of this world! Thanks for letting God use you to reach all of us in amazing ways! We have come away better women, and are excited to see what God has in store for us! We have a lot to work on, but are planning to meet and hold eachother accountable for those things that hold us back from what God truly wants for our lives. Thank you for sharing your story, for being real, and for making us feel good about who we are in Christ!Like you said, "Insecurity is another form of selfishness. When you are confident and know who you are, you make good choices for God." I have so many notes that I plan to read over and over. Thank you for a wonderful weekend! May God bless your ministry!
